Rain Doesn't Dampen Country [Jul 11, 2006]

Despite rain wreaking havoc with the schedule on the Main Stage and my bedtime, Erika Jo and Collin Raye both put on lively perfofmances tonight on the Main Stage at the Lincoln County Fair.

Erika Jo showed spunk and a powerful voice that will take her far in Nashville before seeing her set cut short by the downpour. Notice Erika's name is spelled with a "k" contrary to what you may have seen on signs or ads put out by the Lincoln County Fair board. Erika Jo hit the stage like she was playing on Saturday night rather than Tuesday. Early in the show, technical difficulties were evident as you couldn't hear the lyrics clearly, but she had the fair rockin with her hit single "I Break Things" and some songs from her new album by the time the rain began falling.

Collin Raye didn't hit the stage until 10 pm, an hour after he was scheduled to take the stage. Evidently, the rain delay didn't affect Collin's energy level at all. He showed more energy during his show than I was aware the entire Town of Troy had on a Tuesday night. Check out his new song, "Hurricane Jane" which a video was just sent to CMT for. Wearing a Stan Musical Cardinals' jersey, Raye belted out song after song in between dancing around the stage, shaking hands with fans in front of the stage, and signing things.
